Follow the Rules for Life-Long Beauty

Dayle Haddon, author of "Ageless Beauty: A Woman's Guide to Lifelong Beauty and Well-Being" (Hyperion), says she keeps her beauty by minding a few simple rules, all enjoyable.

Her tips include:

  • Create your own private sanctuary to read, listen to music, or work on a hobby
  • Exercise: it is a lifestyle and adds energy, defies time, and defies gravity
  • Take baths, not showers; baths are revitalizing
  • "Visualize your passion" and work towards it
  • Invent celebrations, honoring small victories because it helps build self-confidence
  • Indulge yourself, often, with new perfume and flowers for yourself, a massage, and a trip to a spa for "a few hours of unashamed pampering"
  • "Moisturize everywhere" -- Use your favorite moisturizers on your face and skin all over, and use moisturizing aids in most other areas, including special pantyhose which help circulation and help prevent drying skin on the legs
