Migraine has been described as "the worst kind of headache imaginable" and can even require a visit to the doctor to the unlucky people who suffer from them. But there are alternative means of easing the agony, health experts say.
Writing in Britain's Here's Health magazine, the experts say taking up to 400 milligrams of vitamin B2 daily is one approach to lessen the duration and frequency of migraines.
Aromatherapy also offer possibilities. The magazine says American scientists have found that smells from some foods -- such as green apples -- can help ward off the fierce headaches by triggering positive mood states that help dissipate pain.
Health expert Tessa Hale suggests an herbal tea made up of:
- six parts rosemary leaves
- four parts peppermint leaves
- four parts lemon balm leaves
- four parts sweet violet
- three parts feverfew
- a half part sweet violet flowers
Put the mixture in a teapot with boiling water, leave until cold, then sip throughout your migraine attack.
