A medical assistant is helpful in monitoring the health (vital signs, medications, basic health needs) of an individual with Alzheimer's. They may also be helpful in assisting with self-care needs and maintaining health regiments for the patient who could not otherwise care for themself.

Medical assistants occassionally helps the doctor to examine the alzheimer patients to check there height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure . Assistants write down patients' medical histories and run simple laboratory tests. Assistants may also give injections, apply bandages, and take X-rays.
