Spring is here, and as the days brighten, the makeup colors that lighten up our face will surely follow.
Top New York makeup artist Vincent Longo says yellow, ochres, and golds are this season's go-to eyeshadow colors to get that spring glow.
"[Those colors] are my favorites," he says, "because they look modern and fresh and light up the face."
And although you might think yellow might give skin a sallow look -- Longo says the color actually complements most skin tones.
"Out of all types of skin tones, most can take yellow shades," Longo says.
But the choices don't end there.
Longo says "blues and turquoise look great with light-colored eyes, such as blue, hazel and gray, particularly on those who have olive or tanned skins." For definition around the eyes, midnight blue is a great alternative to harsher colors, such as black and grey. Avoid coloring the eye sockets -- that look is "too heavy and severe."
Lavander is also a great color that "suits everyone, whatever their skin or eye color."
The makeup artist adds that this season's pale, nude lip should be paired with eyeshadows with gold undertones. A "honey-pinky blush" balances out the colors for a "warm" look.
But whatever you use, Longo says, remember that "makeup is like an item of clothing -- you must feel comfortable with your choice."
