From loose curls to the humble ponytail, you can be safe in the knowledge that perfectly polished hair is not required at the weather heats up. The Ponytail
A runway favorite, the ponytail can be girly or grown-up, high or low, or work fabulous. Your ponytail toolkit should include a good, soft bristle brush, snag-free hair bands and some light-hold hairspray. -
The Messy Bob
Back again for summer, the bob is slightly longer and full of texture with soft layers. think Carrie in Sex And the City season four when she visits the Vogue offices. Its sexy, its tousled and its easy to wear. this look works really well with a centre parting or soft sweeping fringe. Work a small amount of gel through the ends and mid-lengths to add texture and hold the style in place. After blasting it dry, use tongs or straighteners to create a loose wave throughout the mid-lengths and ends. Then, use your fingers to rough it up a little. -
The Braid
Whether you go for the hairstyle du jour -- the side braid, the braided headband, loose pigtails or some thin boho-style braids, it is a surefire way to add some interest and detail to your look. Practice different styles including the French braid or fishtail braids and try out different looks. -
70s Waves
This is a summer classic. We have been seeing a resurgence of for the last year or so. The sexy yet sophisticated look is laid back and again, is easy to wear. If you have wavy hair, then youre laughing. For those with straight locks, either add a light wave with tongs or straighteners, or after blow drying, split hair into sections and twist into a knot. Secure with a clip and allow to cool. Remove to reveal a relaxed wave. Finish with some hairspray for added hold. -
Crop
A crop is a dramatic way to go for summer 2010. The focus is on natural looking movement and volume. Crops are holding their own this season with short unregimented lengths adding textures and bounce to this signature cut. Forget solid crops and go for broken edges and textures that use the natural flow of your own hair.
