Sorry I haven't posted in awhile.

Been having some health issues.

What is everyone reading. Is there any one around?

I am reading Agents of Light

I am reading Agents of Light and Darkness:A Novel of the Darkside  by Simon R. Green.  It is a science fiction mystery.

Hi Ginnyann

I haven't been in this site before although I've looked at it now and then. I love to read. I do read some suspense books. I like Lee Child, especially The Jack Reacher books, I like Harlan Coban. In the lighter books I like Susan Wiggs and Luanne Rice along with too many more to mention.

I wanted to drop in to tell you about a series that I just read. These may not appeal to you, may not be your style. But these are the best books that I can remember reading in a long, long time...if ever. It is the "Sisters of the Quilt" series by Cindy Woodsmall. I am finishing up the last one, #3 right now. And I hate to get done with them. They are really hard to put down. They are about an Amish girl. But just wonderful.

Have you heard of the web site...paperbackswap. com? I have joined that and it is kind of fun. I've traded about 6-7 books. It's fun to see where they come from and where you are sending books. Sometimes the trading is slow, depending upon how many of the same book is posted, but now and then it works out.

Thanks for your time....I will check back in later. I do love to talk about books.

Have a great day!

Enjoying reading

I am currently reading Nora Roberts book Blood Brothers. It is a good read.

Ginnyann! You now there

Ginnyann!

You now there are more books in the Blood Brothers series? I enjoyed it a LOT. If you liked that, check out Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. The seventh book is due to be released on Sept 22, and it will consume you, I think.

I am reading Angels and Demons

It is by Dan Brown. I want to have completed it before seeing the movie.

I am reading two books

Right now I have two books going. HEART & SOUL by Maeve Binchy & TOUCHED BY FIRE by Catherine Spangler. Two very different books.

Welcome Spring/Fall

Finally finished reading Beat the Reaper. Wow what a ride of a story. Definitely not for the squeamish.

Great to see some new posters.

I had a sinus infection that slowed me down. Currently reading Beat the Reaper by Josh Bazell. Loving it. It is a humorous story sorta set in a New Jersey hospital.

Haven't read The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Atkins. I have trouble with Nazi stories so probably won't read it.

gardner The idea is come here and discuss what we are reading (Or have read) It has been slow getting going. The old group was a very active discussion.

The Last Templar movie disappointed me. However, I did watch both nights. I pictured it from a different perspective. A perspective that was more male than female. The book felt that way to me.

Hi

I'm reading The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Atkins for my local book club and recommend it highly. It is based on a true story that happened during the Nazi occupation of Poland. Also recommend Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi about a literature teacher forming a reading group that had to meet in her living room because of the government disapproval.

YEP, HERE I AM

I haven't been reading as much as I was when I first had the knee surgery. I am still reading the biography of Steve Reeves right now.

I didn't know you had knee

I didn't know you had knee surgery, Jeanette.  Hope you are doing well with it.

Ginnyann, did you have  a problem sending me an email?  I just sent you one.

Good to see you.

Good to see you.

Is anyone here?

I am reading Summer Knight by Jim Butcher. It is the fourth book in the Dresden Series.

Hi GinnyAnn, Hope you are

Hi GinnyAnn,

Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving and I saw your note about snow.  How wonderful!  It was 73 here today and I am still growing tomatoes!  Had one night of frost so far, but I covered the plants.  We used the fireplace only one time so far.

I am currently reading Fern Michaels "Family Blessings."  It is a decent book, an easy read, but a little predictable.  Before that, I read one of the "Christmas In the Heart" series books by Joe Wheeler.  Turns out my friend from high school collects them so I sent it on to her.

I just discovered the Paul Theroux travel books.  I love trains and love to read stories of people riding them.  These are not so much travel guides as they are books that describe his adventures, the people he travels with, and the people he meets, and his opinions of the country he is traveling in.  One adventure leads to another, but he often avoids the tourist spots.  While he is usually on a train, he also has traveled by kayak and bus.  I put six on my Christmas List:  "The Great Railway Bazaar" where he travels on a number of trains, 28,000 miles from Europe to Asia, and 30 years later, currently, he took the same trip, "Ghost Train to the Eastern Star, On the Tracks of the Great Railway Bazaar."  Also, "Fresh Air Fiend, Travel Writings," a collection of writings about his travels.  Then snuck three more of his books on my list "Riding the Iron Rooster, By Train through China," "The Old Patagonian Express, By Train through the Americas," and "Dark Star Safari, Overland from Cairo to Capetown."   He is the author of "Mosquito Coast" but he is a very prolific writer.  I had to make some hard choices, as he has written travel, fiction, and even semi-autobiographical books, and I like everything he wrote.  I remember seeing "Mosquito Coast" as a movie.

Happy Reading!

Yes we still have snow on

We had our first dusting of

We had our first dusting of snow last night. Winter is my least favorite season.

Hi everyone

Irene, I am like you. I have three different books started. Finally settled on a fourth, a book of Christmas short stories. It's a little early for Christmas but I have a book to mail a friend and thought if I finished it this week I could include it. It is a delightful little book I found at the thrift store. And the stories are short. Perhaps that is all my attention span can manage right now.

GinnyAnn, I have not read any Linda Howard books. They sound good. Ditto to Anne Tyler, Jeanette. There are so many good authors I have not tried.

I am doing some late fall gardening. So far we have not had the first frost. I expect that will be coming soon. I feel I have one foot still in summer and one in winter.

Linda Howard is great

Linda Howard is great because she brings in many elements to her stories.  Hers are in the Thriller catagory.  Whereas, Anne Tyler is more mainstream. Hers characters are alive.

Hey Everyone: I just ran

Hey Everyone:

I just ran across this reading group and all your posts sound interesting.  I'd like to get to know everyone and share reading likes and dislikes.

I'm very fortunate with the public library system here in Gwinnett County, GA.  I usually have a paper book, CD book and downloaded audio book all going at the same time.  You've probably guess by that, I have no life. *LOL*

Welcome Gracie.  Sure you

Welcome Gracie.  Sure you have a life!  Think of the people who wish they had the time to get to one book. You are luckey and can get three going.

Hi Ginnyann

I've got my nose to the grindstone, too many books. Would you believe I have three going at the same time, guess I'm nuts, but then you all knew that eh? LOL Hope you are well. xoxoxoxoxox

Isn't it normal to have more

Isn't it normal to have more than one book going at a time? hehehe  We are all a little nuts, lol.

Hello fwllow readers. I hope

Hello fwllow readers. I hope everyone is welll.

Is there anyone around?

I am reading a Christine Feehan Carpathian novel. DARK CURSE is a chilling story that starts out in an ice cave.

Linda Howard is a great author

This afternoon I finished reading Kiss Me While I Sleep by Linda Howard. It was an enjoyable read. It reminded me of a Helen McInnes romantic suspense story.

Reading Is Good For Your Health

I just finished "Odd Hours".

Picked up a few books at a used book store. I chose, Anne Tylers, "Breathing Lessons." I enjoyed the other two books I have read by her.

And, I picked up two biographies, "Still Me" by Christopher Reeves....and.....don't laugh, "Enter Talking" by Joan Rivers.

I thought the latter may be a fun read if nothing else. LOL!

Beautiful summer like fall day here in NE Ohio

Need to enjoy these days as colder weather is coming in from the west. How is everybody doing?

Kiss Me While Sleep

Is the title of my current read. It is a Linda Howard book. I am loving it.

Hi everyone, That is Andrew

Hi everyone,

That is Andrew McCall Smith, GinnyAnn. I have read the first and have collected most of the others, still missing a few. The original series was based in Botswanna in Africa and are kind of mysteries but mostly applying common sense to little mysteries of life that people hire her to solve. They are called the "#1 Ladies Detective Agency" series. He gives lots of background about life in Africa and draws his characters well. Like Irene said, they are an easy read. He is a terrific writer. He also has a series set in Scotland and I have several of those. The Portugese series, it seems are not quite as popular, or perhaps people just expected them to be more like the African ones. I decided not to try those.

I am alternating the second of the African series with the "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" book.

I have been collecting a lot of books at the thrift store and from the Half-Priced Book Store, but am working now on some neighborhood projects.

Happy reading!

Darlene   Thanks for

Darlene

Thanks for letting me know what books Andrew McCall Smith has written.

I am reading Silks by Dick Francis and Felix Francis. Silks are the top of the line lawyers. I don't really understand their system for legal representatives. The book is ok but not as gripping as he used to write. :(

Hello GinnyAnn,

Well, after finishing a project that took a few months and that took constant attention I imagine that I'll now be able to read a bit without feeling guilty, so;

I bit the bullet and ordered 12 new books. Ridiculous of course because I have shelves of unread books. Most novels I give away once they have been read.

The ones ordered are a myriad of Andrew McCall's mysteries. He's such a sweet writer and an easy read so I thought they'd be good for the beach. xoxoxoxoxox Hope you are all well.
