Welcome to the Book Club
Welcome to the Book Club
Welcome Friend,
Do you love to curl up with a good book? I hope so, because you've found the perfect place to share everything you enjoy about reading : the wonderful stories, the stunning wordplay, the laugh-out-loud comedy, and the pee-in-your-pants thrills that only a real, live book can offer. (Do I sound prejudiced?)
Unlike the book club of a certain lady whose name begins with "O," our cozy group doesn't limit you to one book at a time. In fact, the more discussions, the better. Whatever your taste -- Jane Austin, Steven King, David McCullough, David Sedaris, the Left Behind series, you name it! -- you are welcome to post a pointed review, ask a question, respond to an outrage, or just browse the stacks for a good read.
Thanks for stopping in,
Elizabeth, manager and proprietress of The Book Club
100 Years of Solitude
I am currently reading this book. I bought it because the author won the nobel prize. This is the second mistake the Nobel committee has made (the other one was giving the peace prize to Obama). The book is boring and dumb. I will finish it but only by reading a few pages a day. Don't buy books because other peope think they are great!
Wondering
I've just realised , looking at posting dates, that this is a sleepy hollow book site......
We must talk about Kevin
I've just read WMTAK by L Shriver, creepily good with so many issues not least life attitudes in the U.S. I thought it beautifully written.
a bold and fresh piece of humanity.
i am an admirer of Bill O'Reilly and read most of his books excpet Kids are people too.

You are so right about William Boyd! You really feel like you are reading a true tale when you pick up one of his books. Try "Restless" if you haven't already.
If anyone wants to try a taste of Boyd, click here.
I have a new favorite author.
I just want to share this author with everyone. His name is William Boyd. I had never heard of him, although he has had some popular books out, including Brazzaville Beach. He's British, and it is amazing to me the way he weaves history with suspense and intrigue while also creating surprisingly three-dimensional characters. My favorite book: Any Human Heart. Take a look. It starts a little slow but soon you won't be able to put it down.
