Do You Take Vacations?
Do You Take Vacations?
There was an interesting article in the New York Times recently quoting an American restaurant owner who explained why he never took a vacation, unlike his European counterparts who typically close down their restaurants for the month of August. "They don't have a Cheesecake Factory opening up just down the street," he noted.
I've worked on my own for 2-1/2 years since leaving the corporate world behind, and I haven't taken a day of vacation since. I worry that if I leave town, my clients will start looking elsewhere. I know it's irrational to think this, but it's always in the back of my mind.
How about you? Do you take vacations or even time off? What's your situation -- are you a small business owner, a free lancer, a consultant, or a full-time employee? Share you thoughts.
small business owner,mother
My husband and family couldn't take vacations for the 1st 10 years we were married. Not because we didn't want to, because we had NO MONEY.
Ever since then, we have managed every single year-some years more thatn once. WE own a very small business-mu husband has figured out how to do what he needs to get done whereever we travel. So yes we figure out how to get away-this year was our first trip to Hawaii-and absolutely wonderful-myself, me husband and our youngest-18 year old.
Can't wait for next year!
