Anyone using LinkedIn?

Anyone using LinkedIn?

When I left my last job, the company's outplacement service suggested that I join LinkedIn, which I did. Since then, I've been innundated with requests to be linked with people I used to work with, or who share an acquaitnance. I like being able to keep up with the latest news about former co-workers, but I am totally ignorant about how I am supposed to use LinkedIn to find a job. Does anyone have some experience with this site and the best way to use it?

Using LinkedIn

A friend recently invited me to join LinkedIn. Like yourself, I'm wondering just how to handle it, I've decided to ask everyone who desires a connection if they know of any available jobs. If people don't know who is unemployed, they won't tell about any openings where they are (if they're working) unless we let them know we're looking.

LinkedIn

I am on it, but so far it hasn't produced anything. I have been on it for a couple of years.

Linked In

I'm on linked in and actually got a job interview through my networking activities. Seems to be a good place for the hunt.

LinkedIn

I am on LinkedIn, too, and have a large group of primary, secondary & tertiary links.

To search for a position go to the top JOBS, click on Advanced Search & follow the prompts...you can search near your Zip Code or any City.

I hope this helps. I believe this networking service is secure...

I got on Linkedin but never

I got on Linkedin but never could figure out how to find a job there so I just gave up!

I also have been pointed to

I also have been pointed to LinkedIn as a useful job search tool. I have not yet joined, but am worried about security issues. Is that a viable concern? I've heard some not-so-good things about other Web-based groups and was wondering if this one was cause for concern.

I am on LinkedIn and this is

I am on LinkedIn and this is in my opinion a very powerful social networking group. There is also a tab for jobs on the linkedIn network website. Having past friends where you worked is a really big advantage and any professional group that you might belong to could have a group on LinkedIn. I am way over 50 and found a job through networking and LinkedIn helped me establish an acquaintence that give me information about the job. I applied, won the job and sent thank you cards to everyone involved in my job search.
