maybe this will help

do you know if there is a health care directive for your father. if so, that will stipulate who can make medical decisions when he is unable. same for a living will. if your father created a last will and testament, perhaps his attorney also drew up these papers, as well as a financial or general power of attorney.

So what if he doesn't know

So what if he doesn't know what day it is! That doesn't make any difference ,except to you. Can he feed himself? Does he need a diaper? Can he put on his bathrobe when he gets out of bed?

Don't over-react!

Hi, Just went through tbe

Hi,

Just went through tbe nursing home thing with my significant other. He couldn't fend for himself either, and I work full time so he went in under Hospice, as he had lung cancer. The nursing home was really a nice one. They allowed visting 24/7. He died on Novemeber 30, 2008. I knew that he was getting around the clock care, and that's what he needed in the end. My prayers are with you and your mother at this time. It's so very hard!
