Celebs Who Wear Glasses

  • As the multibillion-dollar contact-lens industry shows, there are a lot of us who don’t ever want to be seen in glasses. But glasses don’t have to mean mousy or ugly. Check out these celebs rocking sexy eyewear:

    Sarah Palin

No matter what you think of her politics, most everyone agreed that the former governor of Alaska and vice-presidential candidate looked pretty darn alluring in her Kazuo Kawasaki lenses.
  • Johnny Depp The" Pirates of the Caribbean" stalwart is so gorgeous that he could probably wear lab goggles and look good. These say, "Yes, I'm a bad boy - but I'm sensitive."
  • Whoopi Goldberg She’s made such a point of being quirky and funky that "The View" co-host would probably sport strange glasses even if she didn’t really need them.
  • Steve Martin The actor, writer and comedian just may be the originator of the sexy-nerd look. It’s worked for decades. Still does.
  • Susan Sarandon She doesn’t wear them all the time, but glasses make the actress look even more winsome and vulnerable than usual.
  • Richard Gere Simple silver wire-rims fit Gere’s straight-ahead, classically handsome features. A guy who looks like this just has to be smart, kind and sexy.
  • Martin Sheen These round frames make him look scholarly and thoughtful, especially when he peers over the top.
  • Brad Pitt Is he trying to make himself look ugly? The glasses are OK, though we’re not sure they’re prescription lenses. But the hair – all we can say is lather, rinse, repeat.
  • Meryl Streep The best (and most chameleon-like) actress of our time has worn every kind of glasses from horn-rimmed to tinted. Here, at an “Iron Lady” press event, she’s sporting hip yet square frames. Margaret Thatcher never would have touched them, though.
  • Bono Are they goggles? Lightly-tinted sunglasses? Lightly-tinted eyeglasses? The rock star wears them all the time, he says, because of his sensitive eyes.
