Sunday was a star-studded evening in Beverly Hills as the glitterati posed on the red carpet, took to the podium, and headed for after parties celebrating the winners of the 69th annual Golden Globe awards. The annual event, sponsored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was an occasion that showed off the striking good looks of Boomer celebs. We picked an even dozen of them as our favorites for the night.
Jane Fonda: A Knockout in a Color Block Dress
The actress, author, and exercise guru turned 75 last December and still has a figure to die for. She made the most of it with a dress not unlike the one that caused a sensation when Kate Winslet sashayed in it at the Venice Film Festival last October. Wow! Steal that style! -
Laura Dern: Thanking Her Mom, Diane Ladd
Aww! How sweet it was when the 45-year-old third time Globe winner thanked her mom, Diane Ladd. The camera caught Ladd, now 77, tearing up at her daughter's success. Both generations looked lovely with Dern in a body-hugging green dazzler and Ladd sporting a flatteringly draped dress in muted grays and celadon. -
Meryl Streep: Best Actress for "The Iron Lady"
She accepted the top gong while wearing an attractive but understated black ensemble with silver accents. However the 62-year-old megastar lost her composure when she realized she had forgotten to bring her reading glass with her so she could see her notes for her acceptance speech. She was bleeped when she gasped, "Oh, s**t!" She later said she was mortified but we forgive her! -
Melanie Griffith: Chumming with Banderas & Almodovar
The 54-year-old star, looking far better than she once did after overzealous plastic surgery, showed up on the arm of husband Antonio Banderas, 51, and the two of them chatted with director Pedro Almodovar. -
Glenn Close: This Is What 65 Can Look Like!
She was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Albert Nobbs and though she didn't nab the award, she did turn heads in a midnight blue gown that bared her gorgeous shoulders. -
Andie Macdowell: Miss Golden Globe's Mother
Andie, a stunner at 53 sporting a silver sheath and her trademark curls, was proud to be the mom of lovely 21-year-old Rainey Qualley, the actress and singer who was named this year's Miss Golden Globe. It's an honor traditionally bestowed on the offspring of a celebrity. -
Jane Lynch: Makeup by Mgido
The Glee megastar stepped onto the red carpet in a black halter gown and a face glowing with both a smile and impeccably applied cosmetics. Her makeup artist, Jackie Mgido, told the Temptalia web site that she was his inspiration. “Jane Lynch is all about classic simplicity,” he said.

Madonna: Best Original Song
The Material Girl was at her saucy best on the podium, tossing ripostes back at host Ricky Gervais. The W.E. director won the Best Original Song award for "Masterpiece," a tune that was featured in the film. At the Globes, she wore a silvery Reen Acra gown with daring décolletage. -
Jessica Lange: Best Supporting Actress
Jessica Lange won the Golden Globe award for supporting actress in a series, mini-series or motion picture made for television for her role in "American Horror Story." The 62-year-old actress, recently separated from long-time partner Sam Shepard, looked elegant in a long column of black with covered chest and arms – an unusual choice, yet attractive.

Tilda Swinton: Polished Glamazon
Somewhat less androgynous than usual, but sporting an odd up do, the talented and always visually interesting 51-year-old actress wore an ice blue gown that flared at the bottom for a retro 1950s glam look. -
Julianne Moore: Flawless in Black Chanel
The sun pronounced the 51-year-old actress a "fashion favorite" and we agree. Her auburn tresses flowed to her shoulders and the black gown by Chanel had a flattering flounce over the hips. A final eye-catching touch: green chandelier earrings.

George Clooney: Best Actor and "Best Date Ever"
Along with all the lovely ladies, we just had to add the Cloonster. His girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, 32, told reporters a couple of days ago that he's "the best date ever." He snagged Best Actor at the Globes and they made a dashing couple, as always, with him in a tux and her in a clingy fire engine red gown.
