Happy Birthday Julia LouisDreyfus

Louis-Dreyfuss father was president and CEO of the Louis Dreyfus Group, a multibillion-dollar conglomerate he inherited from her great-grandfather. It certainly hasnt stopped her from working hard.

Now shes been tied by Abby Elliot, but when Louis-Dreyfus came onboard at 21, she was the shows youngest female cast member ever. She has fond memories of her time there, and told AOL, I think my favorite memory of 'SNL' is when I went back to host it. I was the first female cast member to ever come back and host, and I've done that twice now. It is at the top of the list of the most phenomenal experiences.

She and husband Brad Hall were both members of the cast together, another first: theres never been another husband-wife team. The two met in college at Northwestern; they have two sons.

Louis-Dreyfus blames her pregnancy weight-gain, in part, for her character Elaines characteristic boxy skirt suits. Fashion aside, she handled the demands of motherhood and comedy with panache and a little confusion. When I was doing Seinfeld and my oldest son was a babe, I had a nursery set up at work. I would nurse him, then run out onto the set, and I always felt like, Who am I, here? she told Redbook.

I started working with a costume designer who was interested in me wearing more fitted clothes. And I didn't used to do that. I was shy. Because I'm so short and small, I used to wear things that were too big for me, that weren't flattering. So I got some good advice that helped me find more body confidence, she said.

She came up at a time when not too many women were part of the comedy boys club--let alone extremely attractive women. If you are thinking about gender, it will get in your way, so to a certain extent, you have to toss it aside and push forward. But I've worked around men a lot, and I'm probably more assertive as a result. I'm also much more confident now than I used to be, she said.

During the 2007-2008 SAG Writers Strike, Louis-Dreyfus set herself up in the thick of the picketing at a Desperate Housewives location shoot. We were preventing them from shooting; the writers were saying things like, Marcia, don't Cross that picket line" and "We write the story-a for Eva Longoria, she recalled in an interview with AOL.

She got her Hollywood Walk of Fame star last May. At first, the inscription beneath read Julia Luis Dreyfus. No one seems quite sure how it happened, but she kept her sense of humor about the incident, and took home the Luis, which workers removed and filled in with the proper Louis-.

Well, sort of. Louis-Dreyfus has the lead role in an HBO Pilot called Veep, a comedy about an American Vice President who finds the job to be a little bit of a letdown.

"You can only fight age so hard, said the star, who says she has never had plastic surgery. Then you just have to stand up straight and be graceful," she told Harpers Bazaar. "It's just about confidence, don't you figure?" And she said to Redbook, I always look forward to my birthday, and then as it approaches, I get anxious. But only because I want to do something of significance, and I can never figure out what that should be. Heres hoping she finds it this year!
