Hillary Without Makeup

Our intrepid Secretary of State dared to face the cameras au naturale during her recent trip to Bangladesh. She was (gasp!) even wearing glasses rather than her contacts. True, she sported a bit of lip gloss, but other than that she was without a trace of makeup.

The photo, after it showed up on The Drudge Report, went viral on the Internet and spawned lengthy comments about Hillary's appearance over the years including references to her often-berated penchant for headbands and scrunchies. The trending story engulfed any news about why she was abroad and what she was doing in her professional role.

To her credit, all the fuss did nothing but amuse her. She went on CNN to talk about the brouhaha and said: "I feel so relieved to be at the stage I'm at in my life right now... and if others want to worry about it, I let them do the worrying for a change. Because you know, if I want to wear my glasses, I'm wearing my glasses. If I want to wear my hair back I'm pulling my hair back. It's not something that deserves a lot of time and attention."

Some sources agreed with her and found her well-scrubbed look appealing. Suzi Parker, writing in The Washington Post, said she found it"refreshing to see Hillary fresh-faced." Parker went on to say that "She looked like a schoolgirl in the picture – the Hillary from her granola college days at Wellesley."

Here at ThirdAge, we agree. Good for you, Madam Secretary!
