Martha Stewart To Be Replaced By Marie Osmond
Domestic diva Martha Stewart apparently isn’t good enough for the Hallmark Channel, which is replacing her with entertainer Marie Osmond. “The Martha Stewart Show” will end after its current season, and Osmond’s talk show will debut in September.
And the future of other Stewart Hallmark shows, like “Martha Bakes” and “Emeril,” is also up in the air.
The news comes at a time when the once invincible Stewart is facing some trouble on the legal front as well. Macy’s , which sells a line of Stewart’s home and kitchen items, is suing Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia because of her agreement to do a similar line for J.C. Penney.
According to the “New York Post,” Hallmark decided to drop the show in part because of high production costs. The network said it was “extremely excited” to have Osmond, and that an agreement was imminent. “We think she’s perfect for our brand,” a spokeswoman said.
Osmond’s talk show, “Marie,” is expected to include cooking segments as well as celebrity interviews. The entertainer, whose last big TV appearance was on “Dancing With The Stars,” hosted a talk show in 2000. The show was canceled.
Osmond has been successful in other areas, though, including selling a line of her dolls. She and brother Donny also appear regularly on stage in Las Vegas.
One thing’s for sure, though. Stewart isn’t giving up. Martha Stewart Living Omnmedia is reportedly shopping the show to other media companies.
