Met Gala Style Hits & Misses

Madonna Last night, The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Costume Institute Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. The red carpet event was to honor the designer’s amazing contributions to the fashion world.

How fitting that many of the benefit’s attendees appeared to be dressed in costumes themselves. Some of the outrageous dresses made us really appreciate the classic elegance of Kate Middleton’s wedding gown, designed by McQueen’s own Sarah Burton.

Here are a few fashion hits and misses from last night’s gala:

While Madonna, 52, didn’t look bad, we weren’t really fans of her dress. Satin this time of year really looks tacky. Plus, the color totally washed her out.

Anna Wintour We expected better from the editor-in-chief of Vogue. Anna Wintour, the co-chair of the event, wore a dress that was just terrible. It was far too prim and seemed to just hang on her. Between the bizarre pattern and fringe at the bottom, she resembled an awkward living room lamp.

Renee Zellweger Finally, a gorgeous dress! Renee Zellweger, 42, wore an elegant beaded nude gown. Her pumps and clutch matched perfectly, and the dress’ neckline also showed off her defined collarbone.

Hit!

Beyonce The only thing fashionably acceptable about this dress is the black and gold color combo. It’s far too tight, and the neckline is the opposite of classy. The 29-year-old pop star looks like a promiscuous mermaid.

Christina Hendricks Does anyone else thing Christina Hendricks’ gown resembles Lady Gaga’s meat dress from the VMAs?

Christina Ricci Christina, we remember that you played Wednesday Addams, you didn’t have to remind us with this ridiculous dress.

Sarah Jessica Parker SJP looks classy and stunning, as usual. The silver beaded gown was elegant and fit Parker, 46, flawlessly. Her up-do was a great choice so her long hair wouldn’t detract from the dress, and her turquoise shoes added just the right pop of color.

J.Lo She may be an American Idol judge, but wearing a dress like that is bound to make you the butt of some harsh style judging. J.Lo, 41, looks stiff—maybe because she’s being choked by that messy necktie. And is that a vine growing around her shoulders?

We will say this—the raspberry color could have been nice.
