Moreno, Almost 80: Photo of the Day

Rita Moreno, who turned in an Oscar winning performance as Anita in the film version of "West Side Story" a half century ago, will celebrate her 80th birthday on December 11th. Looking far younger than her years, she joined co-stars George Chakiris and Russ Tamblyn for a hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 15th. The occasion marked the 50th anniversary screening of the iconic film that also starred Richard Beymer as Tony and leading lady Natalie Wood as Maria. Wood drowned in a tragic accident in 1981 at the age of 43.

Moreno is the only Hispanic who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. According to MailOnline, she marked the West Side Story anniversary by saying: "There are a lot of films 50 years old. But there are, as far as I know, very few, if any, films that are still playing somewhere on TV, in theatres all over the world. That is what is astonishing. I am just thrilled. I wish Natalie were here. I think that would really complete the quartet."
