Spirituality Always Been Important
Tina was born a Bapist but was always aware of other religious and spiritual traditions. She once told an interviewer that her maternal grandmother, a Native American, was spiritual, although she did not go to church. But she had the hum. She used to tell me stories of the rivers.A few years before leaving Ike in 1976, Tina, turned to Buddhism, overwhelmed by Ikes physical abuse and drug use. Shes been a practicing Buddhist ever since. I believe in prayer, shes said, and in strong belief. So shes just released an album, Beyond, made up of Buddhist and Christian prayers.

Like many super-busy, high-earning women, Tina didnt get to stay at home with her children as much as she would have liked to. She has four sons who are middle-aged now: Craig, from a relationship she had before Ike; Ronald, her son with Ike; and Ike Jr. and Michael, Ikes two sons from a previous relationship.
