Why has ThirdAge Chat been discontinued?
ThirdAge is undergoing a site redesign to better serve the needs of our community. Unfortunately, the technology behind ThirdAge Chat was simply not transferable to the new system.
When was ThirdAge Chat discontinued?
ThirdAge Chat was turned off on January 28.
Is ThirdAge going to have Chat in the future?
At this point there are no plans to reintroduce Chat at a later date. However, look out for live Q & A events with ThirdAge's experts and bloggers in the future. During these events you will be able to converse and learn with your fellow ThirdAgers in real time.
How can I stay in touch with my friends on Chat?
The simplest thing you can do is exchange e-mail addresses with anyone you want to stay in touch with after ThirdAge Chat shuts down.
Where else can I chat?
If you would like to continue to gather in a chat room environment, you can create your own free and invitation-only "Virtual Room" at Chatzy. You will have to exchange e-mail addresses to make sure that everyone in your group can be invited to the new room.
Another free option is Yahoo Chat. It's a very large, active community with many preexisting conversations that might interest you. To join, simply register with Yahoo and install a small chat program onto your computer.
