Can You Ever Get Out of Debt?

You know, I really thought I would hit the jackpot at work. I was in line for the manager's slot, and we lived like I already had the job--restaurants, vacations, and I bought everything I thought my wife ever wanted.

Now they've hired a general manager from outside the company and I'm going to have to work like a dog just to keep my job. Without it, I know we'd have to sell our house. Then where would we go? I've tried to refinance the house, but some slow payments have screwed up our credit record.

Now I think about how much we spent at restaurants--money we should have been putting away in investments. My wife and the two credit card companies hope I'll be working forever. How will I ever get out of this hole?

Have you stayed awake at night trying to remember where the money went? Did you spend it before you actually knew where it was going to come from? Now what are you going to do?
