Frizz-Free and Fine!

QUESTION: I have fine hair that frizzes easily. I've tried frizz-fighting products, but they usually weigh my hair down. How can I keep my hair looking tamed without sacrificing volume?

ANSWER: Most products designed to beat frizz contain moisturizing ingredients that can be too heavy for fine hair, leaving it lank and greasy-looking. To keep your fine hair frizz-free, you need a combination of products (and a light hand in using them!).

  • Step one: Begin by applying a silicone shine serum to soaking-wet hair. Beware of very thick serums, and instead, look for a shine serum formulated specifically for fine hair. John Frieda Frizz-Ease for Fine Hair is a perfect choice. Use only a quarter-size drop for your whole head.
  • Step two: Once you've applied the serum, add a styling product. Mousse is a great option for fine hair that tends to frizz, since it's airy and promotes volume while at the same time conditioning lightly. Apply it from the roots to the ends, and blow-dry with your head flipped over for maximum volume.
  • Step three: The final -- and most important -- product: a hair cream. Look for one that doesn't contain heavy oils such as olive or avocado oil. Frederic Fekkai makes an excellent version. Gently smooth a small dab over frizz-prone areas.
Make each step a part of your daily hair care routine and you'll be turning heads with your always tamed, looking great locks.
