Obviously anyone can post a review. And some people do for various reasons. I am the GM at Harbor Place and take issue with negative and false comments. We have never been understaffed. In fact our staffing levels exceed AHCA's recommended staffing levels. And we don't throw anyone out. Now if someone's health and or cognitive capabilities are beyond the level of care we offer at Harbor Place we can not keep them for their safety. We are not a locked down memory unit and unfortunately we have had residents transfer to places that offer higher levels of care. My advise, do your own due diligence. Check out AHCA's website, visit our community, ask to see the resident satisfacion survey results, talk to our residents and/or family members... you'll get a much clearer picture of what Harbor Place is all about.

Heartless and manipulative management trying to run a care facility like a business.

They had a change in management about two years ago, and things have gone way down hill since then. Independent living may be OK, but assisted is a living nightmare. The management wants to cut costs in any way possible, and the main way to do that is to cut back on the nursing staff (particularly, the number of nurses available in assisted). Obviously, this means worse care, so they are now trying to get rid of people they think are too difficult, or too taxing on their nurses. So if you ring the bell more than three times in a day, you're out of there thrown into a nursing home. If you wander around a bit in the evening, you're out. At one point, they even tried to make their clients pay for their own plastic garbage bags. I even heard a rumor (admittedly unconfirmed) that the management has threatened mildly confused clients with incarceration in mental hospitals, and have invoked the threat of police. I smell a lawsuit in the making with this place, or even a shut down.

Harbour place is horrible! It looks very nice and ideal but the caregivers dont care!!!! I tried talking to the lady in charge, the director but its no use. The over weight caregivers go about their business in no rush to help our loves ones. Showers are neglected, helping with dress is like getting water from a rock! They really need to be shut down!

I fought to get my grandmother in Harbour Place..it's clean and very elegant looking, but after moving her in I honestly regret my fight. My grandmother is 94 and very nice. We are paying for level 2 service which includes;assistance with morning dress, showers, and other assistance. Well, to start off she is woken up by a caregiver hollaring letting her know its time to get ready and then leaves. She gets ready on her own. Her showers are ofter offered at 9:30-10:30 PM after her bedtime meds are handed out(which we all know elderly dont stay up past 8:30) and on top of that she has gone 2 weeks with out a shower...dont ask me. I have complained to Jerry the Director but ultimatly the caregivers just dont care. Last but not least..I am a witness to this! When she moved it they gave her life alert incase of a fall, but I came to visit and found her on the floor and she had been calling for assistance for 40 min prior to my visit and once I got there I pressed the button and still no response. I ended getting her up myself. Were moving and I highly suggest you look else where!

MY 82 YEAR OLD MOTHER WAS SUFFERING WITH ALZHEIMERS. I WAS HER ONLY CAREGIVER & NEED HELP. I WENT TO SEVERAL ASSISTED LIVINGS & DECIDED ON HARBOR PLACE IN PORT ST LUCIE, FL. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE WINDOW DRESSING! THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE A 5 STAR HOTEL. IT'S CLEAN, THE FOOD IS GOOD AND THEY TRY TO HELP THE RESIDENTS BUSY. THAT'S WERE IT ENDS. THEY ARE UNDERSTAFFED, THERE IS NOT MEDICAL HELP IF YOU NEED IT (THEY CALL AN AMBULANCE) THERE IS A DOCTOR WHO SHOWS UP ONCE A WEEK ( IF YOU'RE LUCKY) MY MOTHER NEEDED HELP WITH EVERYTHING. BATHING, DRESSING ETC. HARBOR PLACES SOLUTION TO YOU CARE IS A DIAPER & MEDICATION ( WHICH WILL MAKE YOU SLEEP, SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU) MY MOTHER WAS THERE ONE MONTH & SHE PASSED AWAY. MY ADVISE...PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN A PLACE WITH SKILLED NURSING & STAFF DOCTORS...IT'S WORTH THE EXTRA COST
