I called to find out information about placing my motherinlaw and the people I spoke to were unprofessional and rude. They hung up on me twice, and then, when they did answer, where speaking to each other before saying hello. Then they transferred me to three different people, as they didn't seem to know who was in charge or what to do if someone needed information. I told them I thought they were being rude, and they got into a confrontation with me about it. I don't know if that is the kind of person I want to take care of someone with Alzheimers.?

We had to take my motherinlaw to an Assisted Living home in September. It was not easy making that decision but she has Parkinson's Disease and requires someone to check on her 24 hrs a day. Plus she has medications that need to be given almost around the clock. One of her daughters and her husband moved in with her, but they both worked and Nannie was alone a lot during the day and could not figure out when to take her medication. It was getting to be too much for them to handle and Nannie was getting more and more confused. We looked into several places but when we found Sterling House we knew were we wanted Nannie to go. Everyone there was so kind and caring. The place was beautiful and very clean. All the folks that we met who lived there talked well of the place and how happy they were to be there. Once we got Nannie settled in and she got use to the move she seemed to do well. She was the life of the party there and everyone loved her. She has always been one to tell jokes and keep you laughing. That had all stopped with her for some time, but it started back once she moved. She was now talking and moving around more. She got back to knitting and had even started teaching some of the other ladies how to knit. I can't say enough good things about Sterling House and the staff there. Nannie has had some problems and had to go to the hospital. She is in a nursing home right now for rehab and we pray she will be able to go back to Sterling House. They are all waiting for her to come back. She is making progress, but at 77 we just take it one day at a time. I know that this company has other assisted living facilities across the country. I can't speak for how other Alterra facilities are run but Sterling House is top of the line as far as we are concerned.
