Reviews & Ratings of Mound Guest Home
Oldie But Definitely a Goodie

Other homes may be prettier, larger, fancier, but don't let the Mound Guest Home's older appreance turn you away. The home's Director, Mr. Rick Pittman, runs a tight, tidy ship there and your loved one will get top notch personal care. Trust me. When my step-father could no longer be taken care of at home we were devastated. We had to find a place for him and we had limited funds. We went through the painstaking ordeal of visiting home after home after home. We were astonished by the astronomical prices for elderly care. Finally, we found a home we could barely afford in Oxnard,, Ca. and they adimitted my step-father. Approximately 16 months later that home was closed for various reasons. We were lost. Then, through a referral via the internet we visited Mound Guest Home. What a blessing! From the moment we walked into their halls the smell of disinfectant and a homely atmosphere struck us. Staff was friendly, enthusiastic towards their jobs and one could tell that Rick was genuine in his care and his concern of his patients. Every time we visited my step-father he was clean, well groomed and well fed. Rick even goes the extra step to provide a key to the front gate. One can enter his facility unannounced any time day or night. Why? Because his staff has nothing to hide. My step-father passed away due to Alzheimer complications recenty, his struugle is over. But let me assure all this, Mr. Rick Pittman and his terrific staff made my step-father's stay there as comfortable as possible.

Mound Guest Home may not be the newest, prettiest 'showplace', however if you are looking for the best possible care for your loved one, there is no better facility in Ventura County. My mother (an Alzheimers patient) has been living there for three years now. She was angry and very fearful when we placed her, which is to be expected under the circumstances. When we visited her for the first time she said, "Well I don't know why I have to be here, but THANK YOU, this is a wonderful place and you'd have to tie me up and drag me to get me to leave." She has continued to thrive, never has a complaint and is happier than she has been in years. Most significantly, many of the symptoms she displayed prior to placement at Mound have disappeared. She is not only happier, her condition has improved. She is active, well and happy which can only be attributed to the wonderful loving staff and Director who care for and interact with her on a daily basis. As I said in the beginning, if you are looking for a fancy, pretty showplace you will not be impressed, however, if you want a 'home' with caring professional people to care for your loved one, Mound Guest Home IS the VERY BEST.
