My Dad was at Groton Regency and was treated very well there. He died on the 2nd of the month and the business office told me I had to pay for the whole monthwhich was not true and they knew it. My Dad was on Medicaid and when I checked with the state, they told me that he only had to pay for the 2 days before he died. When I informed Groton Regency of this, they sent a refund check payable to "The Estate of (my dad's name). They knew full well that I wouldn't have an estate set up for my dad since he was on Medicaid and had no money, and they knew full well it would take the whole check to pay a laywer and probate the check. So they lied to me in the first place and cheated me out of several thousand dollarsso if you have a loved one there who dies, don't fall for the lie that you must pay for the whole month. They did take such good care of my dad, I was very sad that they cheated me at the end.

My Mother, Dorothy, just turned 95, and has been a guest at The Groton Regency for 18 months now. I never thought it possible, but I notice that her dementia appears to be getting better. It is so nice to find a nursing home that makes an effort to improve the health and well being of their guest. Other nursing homes should use this one for an example of how a retirement home should be run. My Grandmother was in a retirement home in Maine and I will always remember things like the smell of a hospital, cold concrete walls, lots of stainless steel, and why do they always use that dull green paint? When visiting my Mother at The Regency, the Early Victorian wooden furniture, brightly colored carpeting, wallpapered walls with lots of art work, the smell of lilac blossoms, make me feel like I?m in a castle somewhere off the coast of England. The nurses and staff treat me like I am part of there family and everywhere I turn, a smile. I always hate to leave, but when I do, I leave with the feeling of confidence knowing my Mother is happy and being cared for by people that respect the elderly and treat them as if they were one of their own. I recommend The Groton Regency to everyone.
