My wife's mother was a resident at Birchwood for a period of one year. The physical appearance of the place is exceptional. Nicely maintained grounds. The interior is well decorated, clean and neat. One would think based on what you see that Birchwoods has its act together. Don't be fooled looks can be deceiving as we unfortunately found out. We found Birchwoods to be very poorly managed. Birchwoods is consistently understaffed. Staff they do have is poorly trained (and probably underpaid). Staff turnover is a constant problem. Residents receive little if any assistance from anyone. If your loved one actually needs "assistance"that can be a problem. My advice to you is be smart and learn from our mistakes. If you are looking for a nice assisted living home for mom or dad keep looking Birchwoods is not where you want to be. Don't be fooled by the facade look elsewhere.
