Reviews:When my parent was living at the Isles at Ledgewood, here is what I witnessed: First off, GREED. It was clear from the outset: Management's focus is not on the residents, but on one thing only: Money, and towing the corporation's (Emeritus') bottom $$ line. Secondly, staff should be commended for doing their best to attend to residents; however, their best intentions are undermind by management's mandate of a "skeleton staff" operating environment both day and night. As a result, mistakes are made, residents' needs are neglected, communication among staff and management breaks down, and morale suffers. This air of dissatisfaction is pervasive, and ultimately, it is the residents who suffer most. Thirdly, were Ledgewood a nursing home, one might say the number of deaths occurring within its walls were average to high; but it is NOT a nursing home, and that makes the number of deaths in the last year troubling, to say the least. Lastly, I find it strange that MAs and LNAs double as laundry attendents, kitchen help, and even dining room wait staff, especially since room and board are so outrageously high. For example: Cost for rooms in AL side of house in 2010 is between $5,000 and $10,000 a month (not including the costlier "luxury" executive suites). Cost increases are also frequent and steep. What fosters this stingy behavior? Does corporate dangle big bonuses to motivate Ledgewood's management to keep costs down? Because I can't come up with another reasonable justification for such greed. Lastly: nutritionally, I found the quality of meals to be appalling and totally unjustified in lieu of the cost. Most of what is served comes from a can; it's also either too fatty, or has all the palatability of cardboard. And much of the time what is served contains too much salt. My parent lost so much weight that it became a concern to the doctor. I cannot in all good judgement recommend the Isles at Ledgewood for anything more than a short stay, and even then, only under conditions where there can be frequent supervision by family members.
