Reviews & Ratings of Riderwood Village
Excellent and Caring

Riderwood is the largest continuing care retirement community in the nation, and is true to it's unique vision of providing an active and engaging lifestyle for it's residents. I cannot say enough about how well they treated my mother when she began to need more assistance. This is truly more than your average retirement community/assisted living facility.
Disappointing
Anonymous
I was hopeful for this assisted living facility, because another relative living in Riderwood Independent Living finds it reasonably nice. Since another relative moved to Riderwood (Renaissance Gardens) assisted living, we have met disappointment after disappointment. Periodically residents are awakened well before 7 Am for an 830 breakfast; some of the staff is rough, and frequently staff members do not knock before entering. The Social worker, nursing director, and facility director often do not return repeated phone calls. There is no follow-through. Today my relative was looking forward to a trip which I know she had signed up for (a family member was there); they left without her. The buy-in for this facility is over $100,000, and the refund does not come until they resell the unit. Thus, unless you have enormous amounts of money, you are stuck once you arrive. Stay away. mented
