The Village at Sullivan Trail 4
Happy with my mother's care
SG

I placed my mother in this facility two months ago, and I'm very happy with her care. At 88, she required a lot of assistance and memory prompts. She walks with a walker, and can take herself to the bathroom. But she needed help with dressing herself, could not cook meals, had no company for stimulation and had to do steps in her home. After looking around, visiting and interviewing I chose Weston on Sullivan Trail and have been very pleased. My mother is in a double room, and she and her roommate are compatible - you can ask for a change if necessary. Everything is immaculately clean, carpeting, bathrooms, common areas. The cleaning staff gets to know the residents by name. 3 meals a day, and always options if something is not what the person likes. Dining room is tables of four, and is bright and cheery. Medications are administered by trained med techs, but there is no nursing care on site. Residents have their own physicians, but lab work can be drawn there, and nurse practitioners come once weekly. There is a family doctor in the building, as well as physical therapy, a psychologist, and a hair and nail salon. Laundry is done weekly, and beds are changed weekly also. Residents get assistance with showers, dressing, toileting if needed. The best part of the program is the activities - there are daily activities in a big living room, including bingo, cards, casino, pet therapy, church services, musical groups, and there is a party for every birthday and holiday. There is so much stimulation, and each resident can do as little or as much as they'd like. My mother attends everything, and she was always very shy. Residents can use furniture that is there, or bring their own. Residents can be signed out for meals, visits, shopping. There are bus trips to restaurants and the casino sometimes. Family is welcome to visit 24 hours a day. I am immensely happy with everything there. I would rate it 5 stars, not 4, but there is a lot of construction going on - firewall, etc. and it's going very slowly. And I get concerned about the front door being open at all hours. Every concern I bring to the administration, though, is addressed immediatlely. I find the staff very involved with the residents, and pleasant and happy, and never anything but kind. My mother loves them all, and they all know her name. The cost of this facility is fair, knowing that there is no medical or nursing care, but I am a nurse, and I live nearby, so that doesn't concern me as far as my mother is concerned. It took only two weeks for my mother to say "You were right, I belong here, I need to be here, and I like it."
