Reviews:

As I write this review, there are two previous reviews that taken together show the range that different people can have very different experiences. I have a fair amount of experience with assisted living residences, including both large and 6bed boardandcare facilities. In addition, I am involved in senior issues at both the county level and with dementia organizations. We currently have my motherinlaw who suffers from multiple dementias in Sunrise at Huntington Beach and have found Sunrise to be extremely professional, understanding, and caring. We have been able to observe the care managers interact with our relative and other residents when they are unaware of our presence, and have found the care givers to be quite impressive. In talking with the family members of other residents, we have found the same/similar experiences. I'm sorry that Donna's experiences were not so positive because this is a very difficult time for us family members. The bad news is that the societal trends we now see indicate that the future will be worse.

My grandfather is staying here with Alzheimers. When I visit him I am always impressed with how patient and caring the staff here is. I know that my grandfather is a handful and can be prone to violent outbursts. He doesn't understand what is going on and they understand it. The staff is so patient and wonderful with him. I am glad that he is there and that they are so loving towards him.

Sunrise Reminiscence: Not yet up to speed. Give them a couple years. Assisted Living seems OK. Don't put your family member in the Alzheimer's/Dementia Unit if you love them.
