I have seen Dr. Haley for about three years without any problems. I would get my teeth cleaned on a regular basis and thought every thing was fine. Then, after getting my teeth cleaned yesterday I was told by the receptionist that they had not been paid for the last TWO years from my insurer. What had happened is that my employer had switched health insurers but had continued to send me ID cards for my former insurer, instead of the new insurer. Dr. Haley's office staff continued sending the bills to my former insurer even though the former insurer was refusing to pay the bills. I paid $140 for the current visit because Dr. Haley was concerned that he was never going to get paid at all. Once I found out who the new insurer was, I provided the correct claim forms and contact information to Dr. Haley's office staff. I requested a refund of the $140 on the basis that he now had the correct contact information for submitting claims and that he should be reiumbursed 100% by the insurance company. However, Dr. Haley became very angry with me and accused me of having committed "Insurance Fraud" and said that insurance companies are not required to pay claims that are over one year old. He demanded that I pay the old claims out of my own pocket and insisted that he keep the $140 for the current visit. He did end up giving me a small discount but demanded I pay $200 out of pocket for the older claims that he thought wold be rejected by the new insurance company. There is two problems I encountered: 1) Dr. Haley's office staff don't monitor their unpaid insurance claims, and don't notify their customers in a timely manner of problems which may be occuring. 2) Dr. Haley acted like a total jerk by accusing me of having engaged in "Insurance Fraud". This was extremely offensive, and there's no way I will go back to see this dentist again.
