Nephrology Information:

Nephrology is a branch of internal medicine which involves the study of the function and disease of the kidney. Many diseases of the kidney are systemic disorders and require special treatment. Such conditions include systemic vasculitides such as ANCA vasculitis, autoimmune diseases such as lupus, and congenital or genetic conditions like polycystic kidney disease. Other disorders that may result from problems in the kidney include hypertension, kidney stones, electrolyte disorders, and acid-base disorders.

Nephrologists help diagnose and manage kidney diseases by helping the patient regulate their blood pressure, electrolyte, administer dialysis, and balance fluids in the body.
