Preparing for a blind date is never an easy task. Here are some helpful tips to make it just a little bit easier.
- If the blind date was set up by a friend, get references and opinions from your mutual circle of friends.
- When arranging where to meet pick somewhere comfortable but busy such as a popular restaurant or bar.
- A blind date is not the time to suggest an unusual excursion, such as a trip to the amusement park or hang-gliding. It is also not the occasion to suggest trying exotic cuisine or unfamiliar food.
- Although blind dates are about creating a good first impression, that doesn't mean that you should go overboard when it is time to dress up.
- While on the date try and keep the conversation going, ask your date polite questions such as 'So how was your day?', and save the heavy interrogation for later.
- Go easy on the drinks -- you want to be able to remember the date.
- Don't talk too much -- give the other person a chance to speak. Remember, people love talking about themselves.
- Finally, keep an open mind, a sense of humor and have fun.
