Question
Marijuana and depression?
I have suffered from depression since I was a small child.Never have I used any prescribed antidepressants. It runs in my family and my brother committed suicide. At the age of 14 I started smoking weed on a daily basis which generally I believe was a mistake.Yes, I was a chronic smoker. People with emotional problems are drawn to drugs such as marijuana. I am 49 now and 12 years ago I went cold turkey and have not touch any weed since that day. I run 2-3 miles every other day and I work part time as a teacher. Believe it or not I have a masters in counseling. It's seems as though weed helped me manage my depression through most of my life. At times I think it was a mistake to stop even though it was probably a mistake to start in the first place.Has anyone had the same experience?http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/marijuana-and-depression/AN01900

It is a persistent low mood that interferes with the ability to function and appreciate things in life. It may cause a wide range of symptoms, both physical and emotional. It can last for weeks, months, or years. People with depression rarely recover without treatment.
