This 44-year-old Oscar-winning actress, famous for her role in Monsters Ball (2001), went into a diabetic coma for a week at 22 while on the set of the TV show Living Dolls. When she awoke, doctors diagnosed her with diabetes, and told her that she could have lost her legs and eyesight.
Berry has dealt with her disease by changing her diet, exercising more, and leading a low-stress lifestyle.

Randy Jackson
Best known as an American Idol judge and a Grammy award-winning producer, Jackson was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2001. At the time of the diagnosis, he was obese, weighing 360 lbs.
After undergoing gastric bypass surgery and losing over 100 lbs., Jackson's health improved. According to Newsweek, he checks his blood sugar level every day and takes oral medications if needed.

Patti LaBelle
The two-time Grammy award-winning singer was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1992. The self-proclaimed 66-year-old Divabetic, famous for songs such as Lady Marmalade (1974) and On My Own (1986), has capitalized on her health condition, writing healthy cookbooks geared toward people with diabetes.
LaBelle relies on diet and exercise to keep her going. In an interview with People, she said the best thing that keeps me in shape is dancing onstage. I love to shake it, honey!

Bret Michaels
The lead singer of Poison may seem like he has everything on his VH1 reality TV series Rock of Love (girls, money, fame, etc.), but what the show fails to show is his struggle with diabetes. Michaels was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 6.
In March 1987, Michael even collapsed on stage while performing. Now, 47, he needs insulin shots and blood tests daily to control the disease.

Mary Tyler Moore
When she was hospitalized in 1980 following a miscarriage, Mary Typer Moore didnt know she was going to be diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. They put me on insulin right away, Moore told CNNs Larry King in 2005. In order to level her blood sugar, Moore carries a syringe with her, just in case she needs an immediate dose of insulin.
Now 73, Moore is still active in promoting diabetes research. She is currently the International Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Anne Rice
The author of the best-selling Vampire Chronicles series came within 15 minutes of dying in 1998 when she entered a diabetic coma. Learning that she had type 1 diabetes dramatically affected her work life. According to an interview with ABC News, Rice simply couldnt find the words to write. The simplest descriptions were impossible for me, Rice said.
Rice checks her blood sugar level four times a day, receiving shots of insulin as needed, according to ABC.

Jay Cutler
During the 2007 season, the current Chicago Bears quarterback didnt know why he was losing weight, why he was eating six meals a day, or why he was tired all the time. According to a Yahoo! report, Cutler said he looked like hell.
After a blood test in April 2008, Cutler was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. No wonder he wasnt playing his best!

Larry King
The CNN talk show host didnt make it easy on his body to fight Type 2 diabetes. King was a smoker -- one of the major risk factors for diabetes. Over the years hes had numerous health problems, including heart disease. Since his diagnosis, King quit smoking and lost weight.
Hes now exercising daily and, of course, taking regular medication to tame the disease.

It was in the midst of a tour that Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers, learned he had type 1 diabetes. This 17-year-old pop sensation now has to manage the stresses of his singing career as well as maintain a healthy blood sugar level.
In an attempt to do his part to raise awareness of diabetes in children, Jonas created the Change for the Children Foundation.

The beautiful 58-year-old actress who starred in the CBS sitcom Designing Women was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 13. As a child, Smart quickly inherited the responsibility of learning to give herself insulin injections.
She has been named the ambassador for the Entertainment Industry Foundations Diabetes Aware initiative, an educational campaign designed to inform Americans about the disease.
