Question

Diabetes or something else?
Ok so just a couple days ago I started having extreme fatigue (which is weird being the fact that I have been perscribed to vyvanse and i have not yet developed a tolerance) I feel in a daze increased urination, thirst, dry mouth hunger, I have lost weight as well (that could also be due to my med) cold tingly feet and hands, sometimes my right leg gets tingly and increased irrataility. I am a bit overweight and always been but my blood pressure has always been ok today it was 106/72. I have taken blood tests before but it turned up normal. My friend who is diabetic tested my glucose levels a few times and each time it turned out normal! I also believe I may have pcos I only get my period a couple times a year which is just includes light spotting. I have brought up these issues with my dr. about my menstraul cycle but he tends to ignore it. I am now 21 and I've had an irregular period for about 7 years! Has anybody else been through this? Is there something else that shares the same symptoms besides diabetes that I am going through?! I

definitely ask your doctor about getting tested for diabetes. I'm not sure about anything else hun.

It sounds like all of your symptoms point to diabetes, but it really could be horomone imbalance or a thyroid disorder.I used to work for an Endocrinologist and we saw patients with all three of these disorders. Their symptoms were similar in nature. When they run blood tests, they should do a full horomone panel, and a FULL thyroid panel. Sometimes doctors don't do a full thyroid panel. They may only do a TSH, when they should check T3, T4 levels also. Also, when they draw your blood they should do a A1C, which is kind of a snapshot of your average blood sugar level over a long period of time, not just what your blood sugar level is at the moment the test is done.If you have insurance that allows you to see a specialist doctor without a referral, you should make an appointment with an Endocrinologist, because their expertise is to find the exact problem through blood work and they really know what they are doing. Frankly, regular family practice docs typically don't order the right blood tests.

What is Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is when the body does not make enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps your body convert food into energy. Without insulin, glucose (sugar) from the food you eat cannot enter cells. So glucose builds up in the blood. Your body tissue becomes starved for energy.

Type 1 diabetes usually begins in children and young adults. Over the long-term, if type 1 diabetes is not adequately treated, high blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels, heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves, and other tissues or organs.
