is papaya fruit good for a diabetic patient?
Posted 3 years ago in Other by GymMoon

Not likely. It contains sucrose in the form of fructose. I know papaya is a very good fruit both in terms of taste and nutritive value. But you can have peach or blackberries which would be a good source of iron for the globin part of haemoglobin of the blood .
Papaya has a borderline medium to high Glycemic Index but the Glycemic load is Low. The load is most important. This is for 120 grams. So enjoy in moderation.Take care TIN
No , only an apple or a pear !
There's no answer to this question. Some diabetics would be able to eat them without a problem and others would not. All fruit has sugar and sugar raises blood sugar levels, but by how much depends on how well controlled the diabetic is, what treatments the diabetic is using, and what portion size the diabetic is consuming. If you want to eat a papaya, eat a papaya, but don't just blindly eat one based on the advice here. You would be remiss if you just ate them indiscriminately because someone on Yahoo Answers told you that they're good on blood sugar. The only way to know if they're good on YOUR blood sugar is to test yourself two hours after eating one. Whenever I want to try a new food, that is what I do. If I don't meet my blood sugar goals, I cut the portion and try again. If I still can't, I stop eating the food altogether.

What is Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is when the body does not make enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps your body convert food into energy. Without insulin, glucose (sugar) from the food you eat cannot enter cells. So glucose builds up in the blood. Your body tissue becomes starved for energy.

Type 1 diabetes usually begins in children and young adults. Over the long-term, if type 1 diabetes is not adequately treated, high blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels, heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves, and other tissues or organs.
