The news that DWTS will indeed do the much-rumored all-star season in the fall added to the excitement of the already crackling tension of semi-final results night for Season 14 on Tuesday. All four contenders were strong and host Tom Bergeron said, "No matter which way this goes, it’s gonna suck."
What did happen was a shocker. TV host Maria Menounos, who was at the top of leaderboard on Monday with 59 out of 60 points, was sent packing once the audience votes were added to her score. Her partner, Derek Hough, looked crestfallen and the audience booed but Maria managed a game smile and said, “I learned so many things. I learned how strong I was. I learned to persevere.”
Maria's exit leaves Donald Driver, William Levy, and Katherine Jenkins to compete in next week's one-hour final on Monday night. Katherine, who had suffered a back injury that stopped her routine cold on the first show of the semi-finals, was overwhelmed to learn that she had been saved anyway. "It's a dream come true!" she gushed.
As always on a results night, professional performances filled out the time slot. Grammy-winner Alanis Morissette former American Idol contestant Carrie Underwood, and R&B star Mary J. Blige all warbled while pro dancers took to the ballroom floor.
Onward now to the show that will decide who goes home with the coveted Mirrorball Trophy!
