Gladys Still "Safe" on DWTS

Gladys Knight and Len Goodman are both just shy of 68 and he pointed that out to gasps from the audience. She definitely wears her age better than he does! After she glided through a gorgeous rendition of the fox trot on week 2 of DWTS, Len was awed enough to drop his crusty demeanor and say, "I admire you so much." Then he added that he's no longer up to doing what she did. You go girl!    True enough, this time around Gladys opted for a more forgiving dance than the quick step that was a bit of a challenge for her in week two. Still, she absolutely held her own against her younger competitors. In fact, Carrie Ann gushed that the performance was "sensuous and soulful and rich and divine" while Bruno called it "elegant and absolutely gorgeous." Len capped everything by saying "Can I please be a Pip?" Aww.   Monday was the annual "most memorable year evening" and the Empress of Soul picked 1957 when she was a 13-year-old on her very first tour. She recalls being dazzled by meeting Motown megastars including Sam Cooke. That's why she danced to Cooke's "Cupid" for this round, which brought back memories for Boomer fans.   Next up will be rock & roll week, and Gladys says she's already looking forward to honoring her dear friend Tina Turner. We'll be watching for sure – and hoping she stays "safe" once again!
