Missing Motivation
Missing Motivation
I used to be a gym rat, but these days the most lifting I've done is with the remote control. I know I'm feeling down on myself--I just got laid off, if you were wondering why. But I thought I'd at least want to go to the gym more now that I have more time at my disposal. I know it sounds lame, but I need some motivational words to get myself going. Got any? I need help getting off this sad couch.
Missing motivation?
You may laugh at this but when I was kinda depressed it was recommended that I do some exercise! surprise!!! Anyway I don't like the word exercise but I do like to dance! SO, I had a dancerize video of Richard Simmons. He makes me laugh so much that doing the exercises were easy to do. What is really cool is that there is no one doggin you and if you can't keep up it's okay! No one is going to bug you. My stress levels went down dramatically over the first two weeks and I was becoming more physically healthy. So I hope this is a good idea for you. The extra plus to this is that you will be in shape when you go for job interviews! There is also a neat book out by Marlo Thomas called The Right words at the Right Time. It's a good motivator book with true stories of how people got thru some tough times. Good Luck!!
I find motivational books
I find motivational books are helpful sometimes :)
Missing Motivation
Mine is act like you had a _________ ( heart attack, etc.) only do so before it happens. If you had an event, you'd be spending time on exercise because it would become VERY important to do so. Do it before - not after.
Motivation
I'm 55, retired and have just started getting off the couch and exercising. I find if I do it first thing in the morning, I can go about my day as planned. One of the things I do is my treadmill. I'm now up to 25 minutes a day on it and then after that I will put in an exercise DVD and work out to that for about 10-20 mins a day. Another thing I found that has helped me is getting the Wii Fit. Its a lot of fun and it doesn't take a lot of room or equipment to use. I don't like the gym, but the Wii Fit gives you the impression that you are at a gym with your own personal trainer. Another gadget I use is the Nintendo DS and the Weight Loss program/game. It nags you just enough to stay on track with any weight loss program you do. I think the key to any exercise program is variety. I mix up my DVD's and Wii Fit so I don't get bored, but the one constant is the treadmill. Even if I don't do the DVD's or Wii, I will get on my treadmill and work out on it. Also I give myself permission to miss a day or two and not feel guilty about it. I just double my efforts the next day. I feel good now, I'm still overweight, but I don't hurt as much as when I wasn't doing anything. Good luck.
you can start off slow just
you can start off slow just you get the groove of things again. I for one just picked up walking. Its not the most intense work out put its a start. I've been doing it for a few weeks now and i feel a lot better about myself. I'm also a bit over weight and need all the help i can get so i recently purchased these bike shorts that help reduce weight. I've already lost 2 inches off my waist. if you want to take a look at them you can see them at fitandsharp.com. Hope i was of some assistance and don't give up. Start off slow and work your way up
