The best exercise program for a middle age man is one that combines weight training and cardiovascular exercises. You should start slow and include a stretching program. Always clear a program with your doctor and be sure to maintain proper posture during weight lifting.
Recommendations are as follows: Excerise 3-5 days each week, warm up for 5-10mins prior to excerise, maintain your excerise intensity for 30-45 mins and gradually decrease the intensity of your workout, then stretch to cool down during the last 5-10mins.
Depends on your overall health. If you are a normal and healthy 45 yr old guy, cardiovascular exercises such as walking, jogging, or cycling should work well.
