Sharon Osbourne in Tears over Son's MS

Sharon Osbourne Breaks Down at Son's MS Diagnosis

Sharon Osbourne, known for her toughness and occasional snarkiness, broke down in tears yesterday as she talked about her son Jack, 26, who has just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

“Thank you to everyone for all their good wishes,” a tearful Osbourne said on the television show “The Talk.” She added,” I really believe that the vibes of prayer help.”

Osbourne, 59, has herself battled a serious illness; in 2003, she was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Jack Osbourne is expected to appear on “The Talk” to discuss his diagnosis.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic illness in which the protective sheath surrounding cells in the brain and spinal cord are destroyed, leading to symptoms such as loss of vision and spasticity. There is no known cure, although some cases are less severe than others.

In an interview with “Hello!” magazine, Jack Osbourne said that although he was initially angry at his diagnosis, he was determined to have a positive attitude. "'Adapt and fight’ is my new motto," he told the magazine.
