High-Necked Blouses With Bows
File it under stewardesser, flight attendantchic.
We dare you to go shopping without stumbling upon one of these babies. Plain, patterned, silktheyre everywhere.
Although these blouses are cute, playful, and even a bit quirky, for someone in their 20s and 30s, were going to have to say no to this trend for the boomer set.
Unfortunately, this one of those styles that by trying to look younger will make us actually look older and old-fashioned.
Instead try a funky version of a regular blouse like this sheer leopard print one from Linea. Perfect for under a blazer.

Grandma Sweaters
Can a young, dynamic, lovely, amazing grandma like yourself wear whats referred to as the grandma sweater without looking dowdy?
Yes!
Long knit cardigans are everywhere from Anne Taylor to J Crew to Top Shop. Putting a belt at the waist not only gives the sweater a more playful look, it makes it look more polished and less like Im cold, I need a sweater.
Lisa Laurent, visual stylist at Zara in New York City, says, Theres no age range for cardigans. We have 65 year-old women buying the same grey sweater as the 16 year-olds. They just style it differently.
(Of course, we advise you to put a shirt on underneath!)

A-Line Skirts
Very cute, very June Cleaver. But were going to have to say no for this one, also.
What was once a staple in our closet may unfortunately wind up looking a little costumey on us now.
To spice up your dress and skirt wardrobe, go for high-waisted, knee length or printed versions.

Patterned Wrap Dresses
A big yes for this one!
Diane Von Furstenberg, 64, fashion icon and inventor of the wrap dress still looks stunning in her creations and so can you (or you can find a cheaper version).
Wrap dresses typically work well on older womens bodies because they hug them in all the right places. They cinch in at the waist (if need be, throw on a pair of spanx), show a little dcolletage, and hang just above the knee. All the right areas are exposed.
Try adding layers of a necklace. It will help draw the eye towards the chest and neck.
And definitely, definitely wear with heels.

Eyeglasses
Surely youve seen these glasses. The younger crowd is either extremely visually impaired these days, or vintage-style glasses are extremely in style.
Again, were going to say no for this trend.
It may cute and grandma chic on some, but for older women is just looks grandma.
We do advise investing in a cute pair of specs with some character, though. Try a funky color (red?), or buy something a little more thick-rimmed than your old pair. Its a fun way to spice up an outfitor your every day life.
We suggest opting for a pair like our gal, Tina Feys. Theyre cute, theyre distinct, but theyre anything but overpowering.
