Hose or no hose in the summer?
Hose or no hose in the summer?
I would love to hear from women who work in offices where a professional look is necessary at all times. I work as a paralegal in a law office, and there are some women in my office who do not wear hose during the summer.
I have to admit I envy them—I'm sure they are much cooler when they walk outside to get lunch—but I just don't feel "dressed" when I wear a skirt or dress unless I am wearing hose. Some of the women have tried to convince me that is is perfectly acceptable these days to go without wearing pantyhose, but I'm not sold.
I would love to hear what other people do in the summer.
Try these suggestions???
Since wearing pantyhose is truly a matter of personal preference, you may want to try one of these suggestions. If you like pantyhose and want to look natural, try the L'eggs nude pantyhose. Your legs will look like you are not wearing any pantyhose at all, but just make sure you have closed-toed shoes on. My friend's cat tried to climb up my legs and got her claws in my pantyhose, causing me to say "ouch!" My friend said she could not tell I was even wearing stockings. Most of the time I do not wear any stockings or panyhose, instead I just use cocoa butter lotion with sunblock to keep my legs feeling comfortable and looking good. I do not worry about any of the flaws in my legs. Even the most perfect person has them. I hope this is helpful.
Pantyhose?
Younger women aren't wearing panty hose - or even stockings with shoes while wearing pants nowadays. If your legs are presentable & your ofc. isn't too COLD or formal - you could opt for sunless tanning w/o pantyhose. Bt they do hold us up a bit - and I like the coverage with a skirt if the AC is chilly! Just pick a color as close to your skin tone as possible. DARK pantyhose are REALLY aging! (or go with tights?) There is nothing wrong with creating a look of mature chic.
No 'Hose'
Just calling them 'hose' dates you big time! Forget the pantyhose; summer or winter. In winter, if I wear a skirt, I wear lightweight tights, never pantyhose. In summer, I mostly wear pants and pretty tops, sandles, nice pedi and it's a go! By the way, I'm 56 years old. No kid anymore, but I feel old when I wear pantyhose.
Hose or No
Since I started having hot flashes and yet needed to wear something on my legs during the winter, I turned to flesh toned fishnets. Hip, cool and stylish all in one.
Personally during the summer I don't wear stockings. I am sure to shave, lotion and keep my tan up so as to show the best legs I can.
You will find it ever so liberating to go without. Just try it.
No hose! I am a paralegal
No hose! I am a paralegal for a large law firm in Chicago. Back when Jane Byrne was mayor, SHE didn't wear hose in the summer. If it's good enough for the mayor, it's good enough for me!
No Way!
I work in a professional office and wear mostly pants suits or pants and pretty tops and NO panty hose. I make sure my pedicure is done and my shoes are nice. But in this day and age, it's not necessary to cover up that way. What's the reason????
No
I do not think its appropriate to go without panty hose. Its like looking at an unmade bed and not at all professional...If u are working at a take out or a curb girl at a drive in, ok..otherwise, NOT
If tailored, I would wear
If tailored, I would wear hose, but if just skirt and blouse that is summery and free, I wouldn't. Course, I NEVER wear hose!
Healthier and More Comfrotable
I agree with your co-workers! :) I think it is perfectly appropriate in this day and age to go without hose during the summer. Plus, it is just so much more comfortable (and healthier in the long run!) to skip the extra layer.
I, too, am not comfortable
I, too, am not comfortable going without pantyhose, winter or summer. I grew up in a time when women, especially professionals, always wore hose with a skirt or dress. Going without hose looks fine in the summer for casual looks or events, but I don't think it looks professional in an office or formal setting. I am all for comfort, but I still think there's a time and place for baring skin. Personally, I like wearing sandals in the summer, so I wear "hose without toes" (L'eggs/Hanes) which lets my toes wiggle free but still gives my legs the look and feel that I prefer (and a bit of color - I am very light skinned).
