Go Wild
Aside from wrap dress, one of the first things people think of about Diane is her hair. Unruly and raven, DVFs locks are anything but typical.
Up until 1976, the fashion designer always blew her hair out straight. Then, one day during a photo shoot for Interview, the photographer asked her to wet her hair so he could try something. Dubious, but willing to oblige, thats just what she did and poof! Thats how Ive worn it since.
Try forgoing the fight with your hair once in a while. Let it air dry from time to time. Not only is it good for your mane, you just might like it! Its a simple way to update your style that doesnt require a trip to the salon. If you have frizzy or wavy hair that you cant bare to leave naked, try Living Proofs No Frizz Wave, Curl Styling Spray. -
Keep it Youthful
Diane has fun with getting older instead of wrestling with it. When asked about her style, shes said, Its been fun because Im aging, but Im dressing younger women, so it keeps me in touch with that energy.
The way Von Furstenberg dresses in her 60s isnt much different from the way she dressed in her 20sand she doesnt look ridiculous.
Always in patterns, bright colors and bohemian dresses, Diane manages to look glamorous without being stuffy.
For example, try a bright peacoat for winter instead of boring black:
Pair a patterned dress with a belt and a blazer to bring sunshine to cooler months:
Add some easy flare: Toss on a scarf to jazz up an otherwise plain outfit: -
Jewels, Jewels and More Jewels
Von Furstenberg has confessed to having "a long affair with jewelry." Whether its art-deco pieces from Cartier or big, chunky gold stuff from the 40s, DVF is never without dangling earrings at the very least.
So spice up existing clothes with funky accessories for a more youthful look. Don a ribbon and pearl necklace for an instant conversation starter:
Throw on a striped chunky bracelet.
Keep it simple and timeless with beaded drop earrings: -
Black, Tall and Strappy
At 64, Diane is still traipsing around in black, strappy heelsand she knows how to work them! Not unlike the shoes she designer herself, DVF, is usually found in anything-but-boring footwear.
For a night out, try a twist on the plain, black pump:
Pair black sandals with a sundress for summer or wear with tights and a dress in the winter:
Wear a low-heeled peep-toe for a casual day out:
She looks greatand so will you.
