Remember: the importance of exercise is to improve your overall health, not to endanger it. If you have any of the following symptoms, it's especially important to consult your doctor before starting an exercise program.

- chest pains
- substantial shortness of breath
- dizziness
- a history of heart disease
- heart skipping
- severe pains in your joints
- extreme weight fluctuations (up or down)
- circulatory disorders including a family history
- a current illness with fever and fatigue
Chances are your doctor will say go ahead--exercise, particularly if it's moderate in intensity, is almost the universal prescription, no matter what your diagnosis is. Exercise is almost always a good idea.
Bottom line
Get out, have fun, and feel good.
