Michael James Hastings

Michael James Hastings, an actor whose claim to fame is his recurring role as Captain Mike on the hit TV series “The West Wing,” suffers from fibromyalgia. At the age of 30, Hastings was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which eventually forced him into early retirement. In 2004, Hastings used his status as Captain Mike to bring awareness to the condition by teaming up with a nutritional company called Enzymatic Therapy. Mike promoted their supplements geared toward people suffering from the chronic pain disorder by touring health food stores throughout Los Angeles, and providing customers with information about vitamin supplements used to help reduce symptoms of fibromyalgia.
