I have researched this at work for a case that we have dealt with (I work in a law firm) and it's an extremely had illness to diagnose. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this type of illness but there are ways you could help your mum like taking her swimming, booking her in for massages etc or merely having pyschotherapy - talking about her feelings etc like counselling. It all depends on the effects the illness has on your mother as it can vary in everyone. You can also try acupuncture to see if it helps relieve the symptoms. Hope this helps.

The best thing you can do is understand that some days are worse than others, and there the days you need to maybe do a little more around the house or cook meals. Encourage her to join a support group for fibromyalgia, you can attend too if your able too, they can offer a lot of support, and even ideas of how to manage the fibromyalgia.Ensure she is eating a good healthy diet, fresh fruit veggies, healthy snacks, keep fluids up (being dehydrated can make the pain worse), and try to avoid alcohol and coffee (they can make the fibro symptoms worse).Make sure she is taking her medication on time and regularly, also it is important you know what medication she is on, and what their for. So if she is really ill you know if the doctors or nurses ask. Stress can make the fibromyalgia worse too, so try help reduce stress when ever possible. I have CFS & Fibromyalgia and run a support group, my hubby is very supportive, and he has to do a lot of the heavier duty household chores, such as vacuuming & mopping floors, hanging washing (I struggle with this when a lot of pain), he is also a fairly mean cook when needed. When my daughter is home, she does a lot to help too. Just knowing they are supportive, and they understand that some days are worse than others, or might not had much sleep from the night before, so they make sure I don't over do it.
