going to try the pure vitamin c
I have been using a mix of pure E, K and aloe vera gels but I am going to add vitamin C to the mix and see if the effects change or perhaps try it individually first to see if i notice any changes or benefits.
great for hands
pure vitamin e gel and pure aloe vera gel with a few drops of rosewater glisterin and applied at night on hands and feet with socks .........works wonders
dying
I've always wondered what it would be like to have another hair color but never talked myself into dying it.....maybe that is in the near future the grey is starting lol and its not silver its a yuk dull grey lol sooooooooooooooo color beware i may call
personal choice
I believe whether one should stay gray or dye is a personal choice. If staying gray makes a person feel old or unattractive then they have ever right to change it. But if grey hair doesn't affect they like that then she or he should feel comfortable staying grey.
hair problems
Its fine its limp and I've tried a ton of different products to help, but nothing really seems to work well.
fine limp hair
anyone got any suggestions. its short now, just below ears on sides and to collar in back but i want it longer but because of lack of fullness i don't grow it out anymore.
Baby fine hair
My hair is baby fine. When I use a body building shampoo, my hair gets all flyaway. When I use a conditioner it just falls flat. Any ideas?
Baby fine hair
Hi,I'm going to tell you exactly what I'm doing because I have the same hair type as you have.I use claryfing shampoo(tresemme)after that I apply conditioner(leave in-spray form)just the ends...and hair gel to give it volum. That's it and I can tell your hair is not gonna be fly away anymore.
Brown spots on hands
Probably caused from too much gardening in the sun. Any products that can be whipped up in the kitchen to help with this problem? Hands are also looking like alligator skin.
brown spots on hands
I think you need a scrub. You can do that by using baking soda with water. There are gonna remove any dead skill cells acumulated on the skin.
Products for hair
I am 59 and I have thinning, fine and very straight hair. Otherwise it is healthy and soft (too soft actually). I've used a variety of products that claim to be volume building, but when the humidity is high my hair still goes flat I can't color it because I'm allergic to hair color, although I have done highlights. I wear it chin length and in layers to create volume at the top. Any suggestions for products that will help? I used to perm it all the time, but the last few years the stylists don't want to do perms, and they tell me that a perm will damage my fine hair too much. Any help or suggestions will me very much appreciated. Having flat, straight hair was cool when I was in my teens and 20's but at this age I really need something soft and flattering.
Thanks!
Marilyn
grey hair
I'm reasonably happy with my grey hair although it may make people think I am older. I wear it fairly short and layered. Lately I've been wearing it longer at the neck to detract from my turkey neck. I scour the web for pictures of cuts so that I have something to show the stylist. I wish there were more pictures of 60+ women. I do not blow dry my hair. It has plenty of volume without that.
hair
I just read lesson 2. I may try the oil & vinegar. Wouldn't white vinegar be better for grey or white hair. I'd rather eat the mango, however. My hair is healthy other than being a bit dry. It is still thick and actually grows faster than when I was young and lived in a cooler climate. I am using a detoxifying shampoo part of the time which leaves my hair in good shape. I use VO5 silver to add shine and manageability.
looking tired
i do not know why after a whail i look so tired my friends tell me you look so good then just one or two hours they start to say you look tired your eyes your face look tired so can you help to stay fresh
faceshape & hairstyles
I was told in highschool that my face was heartshaped. When Lady Di was all the rage I had my hair cut in that style, a friend of my husband's jaw dropped when he saw my hair. Now I wear my hair layered, especially around my face, so that its not so heavy because of my problems with my neck (nerve damage due to accident years ago). My hair is "quarter" thick. I am not able to do salon due to allergies and sensitivities, so my sister (master hairdresser) or my daughter-in-law does my hair. Is layered hair outdated. You know what they used to call a shag?
Shampoos & Conditioners
I've been trying the new Tresemme Colorthrive Shampoo and find its not bad. It leaves my hair shiny and the moisture rich Vitamin E Tresemme conditioner for dry or damaged hair. They seemed to work fairly well. My hair is naturally curly, but has with age lost some of that curl, is baby fine and of course, fly away. Of course, the length of my hair weighs it down. Almost to my waist. I don't really see why as we get older we have to wear our hair short like the guys. Any suggestions are welcome.
vinegar rinse
My brother and I used to use white vinegar to rinse our hair all the time when we were teens. In summer it will cause "summer highlights". Never had dandruff though.
B-vitamins and older hair
I've been told that as we age our hair gets drier and whispier. I've seen many of my contemporaries and older go this way. Is it true that extra B-vitamins will help this condition. I'm now taking a B-complex every morning with my yogurt (calcium) and sunflower seeds (vitamin E).
:)

e-Makeover
I am new here and cannot seem to get into the e-Makeover site. Everytime I click on it I get a "cannot be displayed" message. Also, is there a place where you can go to find out what shape your face is. I'm pretty sure it is either oval or heart shaped but not sure which.
Thanks
Princess
some natural recipes
final rinse for limp hair - 1/4 cup vinegar and 1 cup water helps remove buildup - use as final rinse after conditioning. havent tried this yet but will give it a go - just bit concerned re vinegar smell.....
Egg Conditioner - 1 tsp baby oil, 1 egg yolk and 1 cup water. Beat egg yolk till frothy. add oil. beat again. add to water. massage into scalp. rinse well.
also dry scalp remedy - 1-2 tbsp mayonnaise - rub into scalp and leave 30 minutes then shampoo off.
anyone else got any ideas.
some natural recipes
I have used the vinegar/ water rinse for years. It works very well as a clarifying agent and doesn't leave a lingering odor. Give it a try.
new to workshop
Hi I am looking forward to this workshop. Lesson #1 arrived to my E-mail but the link to the personal beauty contract will not take me there. Is there another way I can access it?
Thanks
wrinkles
does anyone have any ideas on how to cover up wrinkles?
wrinkles
hi PINELEAF..
well there are so many creams that are available these days in the market but what i feel is best is to have more of a natural remedy like massaging every night with little olive oil and keep your skin free from all cosmetics when you are sleeping in the night
Growing out a relaxer.
I am an african-american trying to grow out my chemical relaxer. Does anyone have any ideas about what products to help moisturize and minimize damage.
hair
i have to wash my hair every day it is quite greasy in the morning but also my hair is very thin. can you help me
seborhhea?
I have this and mainly on my scalp. As a result using conditioners is not great as well as the use of hair spray, gel, mousse, etc. My hair is fine and limp as a string. Anyone else have any experience with this and things that work that may not aggravate the condition? I hate to have dandruff flakes the size of a pencil eraser hanging in my hair because I used hair spray!
Coarse, thick, bi-textured hair
I am Caucasian with very healthy, yet unruly hair. It is mostly straight, but also has a lot of kinky hairs. It also is dry. What products can anyone recommend to help smooth, soften and shine my hair?
coarse,thick, bi-tetured hair
hi... what i feel is best is i dont know whethere in your country its available its called curry leaves in asia like where we come from we use curry leaves not only for cooking but also for beauty wise so we fry the curry leaves in a little coconut oil and use the oil and the leaves and apply in the hair for shine once a week for smoothness and to soften we make a paste out of one avacado one tsp of glycerine with two tbls spoon of olive oil and aply it on the head and keep for 30mnts.
natural hair care
Sakku, do you use almond oil on your skin or hair? It is sold in Middle Eastern and Indian stores in Southern California for that. I use it on my feet and legs and also on my cat (!) in spots where she has dry skin. She loves the flavor.
Curly Girl
Have you seen the book Curly Girl? This book is a treasure house of information for living with wavy to kinky hair.
My favorite mantra for looking good is to accept your body and features for what they are. The Curly Girl book applies this mantra to hair.
Dry thin hair
I'm African American and my hair is thinning but it has lenght to it. I use a chemical straightener in it. My hair is thinning in the top, I bought Pantene shampoo for thinning hair. All it seems to do is strip the perm from my hair and the hair becomes crinklie and dry. Can some one give me some advice on what to do?
Blowdrying ideas?
I have long, thick, layered hair - I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get it dry quickly - I don't like to spend all morning in front of the mirror but now that the weather's getting colder I don't want to leave the house with it still wet.
good greys
Any ideas on goodlooking grey hair? I'm sick of coloring it, and am growing it out. I am very happy with the soft grey framed by white in the front, but I'd like any tips anyone has.

Hi, I have been coloring my hair for close to 3 years now.I have never had the problem of color running off after I've finished the process.I use L'Oreal, preferrence, Is your hair extremely thick?MIne is very fine, so I'm thinking you should rinse it our much longer. another thing you could try ... mix a very small amount of gentle shampoo with the develpoer before mixing with the color agent.A Hair dresser friend told me thats called a shampoo bubble, and makes it all much easier to rinse out.Maybe a few drops of shampoo, or you run the chance of changing the color of your dye. At the most it may lighten the color a bit.You can call the number for hair help on most any good brand hair dyes, and verify what I said, I did it LOLGood luck.
re:covering gray
Thank you, I will try that withthe shampoo. My hair is very thick, and I do rinse for quite awhile. I will see what the shampoo does.
Covering gray
Does anyone know of a product to cover gray that doesn't run off on shirts collars when exercising? I have used permanent hair color to cover my gray. Usually I use Clairol Nice and Easy. I follow the directions and rinse til the water runs clear. But, when I exercise the hair color runs onto the collars of my t-shirts!
lesson 4
I have fine, oily hair, but lots of it.I am 59.My hair is 40% grey. The grey is a pretty color.I have 2 problems.
#1 is volume. with hot flashes, my morning wash is gone with the first "sweat " of the day.
#2 I have very little money and need to get my hair cut at cutrate salons. How do I tell these people how to cut my fine, abundant and grey hair to a style that is flattering?
Most of the time I have to wait until those type of salon styles grow, and then I cut it myself until it get unmanageable again. HELP
How do I get out of Blue-black??
hi, I used to have naturally black and very soft hair, but i have been dying it for 2.5 years with blue-black (L'oreal excllence cream)to hide the grey ones. Now I have 2 questions:
1- How do I change my color to something like aubern, wine or copper without having to bleach first?
2- How do I bring back that shine and softness to my dyed hair? L'oreal conditioners and hair masks do not work anymore.
Going back lighter
Hi...my daughter did this several years back. She went to a very dark plum. It looked great, but going back was a definite problem. The answer was reverse highlighting, I believe is what it was called. It has to be done by a professional, and it looked fabulous! And...it was shiny! Unfortunately, whem you dye your hair black, it never looks shiny. That's what I read somewhere.
Curly hair
I've have had to take chemo. Before that I had straight hair. Now it has come in curly. I'm 54 years old but don't want a bland style. I have always streaked my hair especially when the grey started comming in. Needless to say it is still short but unmanegable. Anyone out there with a suggestion?
very long hair
I have very long hair,(about 2 inches below waist) I can't really cut it drastically as it is for my husband that I grew it this long to start with. Does anyone have any products or tips that are good for very long hair?
Hair Products
I am pregnant and my hair gets dryer during this time. My hair is fine but very thick and straight. What hair products can anyone suggest that will leave my hair soft and silky feeling and looking?
Thanks!!
Curly Hair Treatment
I have very curly hair that can get very frizzy if I don't put 10 tons of product in my hair.
I usually use a large barrel curling iron or flat iron to keep it straighter. Unfortunately, this does a bit of damage.
I used many products to no avail until my 16 year old son turned me on to Pantene Pro V 2in1 "Hydrating Curls". I used Pantene in the past and didn't like it, but this new formula is WONDERFUL.
I still put additional conditioner in my hair and leave it in while I finish my shower and that seems to really boost the softness in my hair.
Thanks to my son!
Enhancing Hair Color
Hi Shelly.
I recently read Bobbie Brown's new book, and she provides a chart of colors that she believes naturally enhances women with gray hair. (The book has been out over a year, and is available at libraries, or inexpensively second-hand on the Web.) Anyway, she recommends navy mascara, and grey, white and slate eyeshadows; sandy pinks or light corals for cheeks (or, if you have a lot of pink in your skin like I do, you might find a bronze shimmer works as well for you as it does for me...a beautiful make-up artist recommended it, and she was right.) For lips, bright pink, bright coral, rose, and salmon, and light shades of these, work well. My neutral lip pencil is Wet 'n Wild No. 666 for 99 cents at the drugstore. I've used it for years as a neutral lip color. Putting Smith's Rosebud Salve on top makes it moist, yet lets the color stay on well. I'm still adjusting to the idea of lipstick that isn't red - but I do notice browned roses and pinks, and light corals, with bright coral at night, looks really good on me right now. Now, if I can just stop equating these colors with the "little old lady" shades I used to see on women when I was a little girl, I should be OK...

greying hair
In answer to posts about grey vs coloring/I too love the grey in my hair. If I were to change the color in any way, it would be silvery highlights. I get many compliments on my hair color as it is, and it really goes with my changing complexion. I wear no make-up, and want to learn how to enhance my compexion a bit.
BRITTLE ,FLYAWAY HAIR
my hair are very brittle and flyaway type, they are nowadays falling too.apparently they look very soft and silky when fresh but in reality very brittle, fine and flyaway type. Can someone suggest some solution?
