Hair Raising Costs

JULIE HANNAH, DAILY RECORD STYLIST
For Julie, looking groomed is her job and when it comes to her hair she makes no exceptions.

She spends pounds 700 ($1,100), three times a year, on extensions to give her hair volume and length and has two blow-dries a week at pounds 16 ($25) a time.

Yet the 33-year-old admits she hates going to the hairdresser.

She said: "I have a bit of a phobia of hairdressers, which dates back to my modeling days, when they'd dye, spray and backcomb it to within an inch if its life.

"I prefer to color my hair at home now, so I don't spend a lot of time on cutting and coloring in the salon.

What I do spend time on, is blow-drying it.

"I go to the salon twice a week for a blow-dry, which takes around 40 minutes, and every morning I'll spend another 15 minutes tidying it up.

My hair is naturally curly, and looks like a big ball of frizz if I don't blow dry it smooth.

It's not a trust " If I stick in, too, extra " for me which ' I

It's not a great look, trust me.

"If I am going out, I will stick some heated rollers in, too, which takes an extra 15 minutes.

"The biggest expense for me is my extensions, which I get done every four months by Chris at Universal Hair (www.universalextensions.co.uk). "They make my hair a little bit longer and much thicker, and although it takes about four hours to put them in, because it's only three times a year, I find it's well worth it.

"I love Cheryl Cole's hair, it always looks so shiny and bouncy.

"Eva Mendes and Gisele both have amazing hair, too, and I love Kate Beckinsale's scruffy pony tails."
